Recently, WSP Solomon Islands trained nurses and data officers for the second post-MDA national scabies prevalence survey.
The training was held at the WSP office in Honiara and included a visit to a nearby village for a mock survey, where the teams put their training to the test.
The survey has since been conducted in Honiara City Council and the following provinces: Guadalcanal, Central, Isabel, Temotu, and Western. Surveys in the remaining provinces are currently underway.
Once the survey is complete, we will be able to determine the national prevalence of scabies and bacterial skin infections in Solomon Islands, following two MDAs conducted in collaboration with WSP and Solomon Islands Ministry of Health and Medical Services.
Tianku tumas to all the survey teams for their hard work during this effort, and to the people of Solomon Islands for warmly welcoming the teams into their communities to carry out this important work.
